Happy Panters was founded on August 5, 2013. Happy 5th year to us! We have truly grown over the years and want to thank our clients for helping us to get here. We began very small and pushed the idea of love and bonding since day one. We have received majority of our clients through client referrals or clients seeing us walking other pups and loved the care and attention they saw.
The pet industry is currently growing at record speed with human related items and activities now being geared towards pets which has broadened the market. Within the pet industry the service sector for small businesses is a small portion of the industry. Petco, Pet Smart, Wag & Rover are dominating the pet industry in general pet care. Here at Happy Panters we have chosen to zero in on the type of care we want to give our clients, the type of feel we want our company to have and even the way our walkers feel when caring for our clients. The idea is truly love all around. We have found amazing pet lovers and our goal is to spread that love to all our clients. We offer Peace of Mind to our human clients, while offering fun, energy conscious and safe bonding time to our pet clients. Our idea behind this is anyone can walk a dog but not everyone can bond with each pet they care for in a special way that even our human clients notice. That takes time and a willingness to be understanding.
The future of Happy Panters is very bright! Our focus is to continue expanding in NYC and Lower Westchester, not quickly but efficiently and effectively. The energy conscious training has really been beneficial to parents & their dogs, so we would love to open a training facility. This would allow us to maximize our efforts to retrain pet parents on reading their dogs better. The real focus will be geared towards customer service and consistent pet care according to our standards. As our clientele increase, it is of upmost importance that the spirit of the company remains the same. Each client receiving our undivided attention during our time with them, continuous pet support as day to day need change and just knowing that your pet care providers truly want the best for your pet and will strive for that every time.
We do it because we care!
So you think you are ready for a puppy? Here are a few things to think about before bringing them home!
1)Time & Energy
2)Training & Socializing
Owning a pet is a very rewarding experience that also requires a lot of work. Think of your pet as a baby or small toddler and you will begin to understand. Everything you would do for a baby or small toddler you may have to do for your dog. Research dog breeds, personalities, vets, grooming needs, training expenses, day to day care and support before getting your new dog.
Most of us pet parents love giving our dogs a little of what we are eating. Some of them have grown to expect some of your food. Here are a list of foods that may be harmful for your pet this summer.
Chocolate, Coffee/ Caffeine
Grapes & Raisins
Onions, Garlic, Chives
Take the extra precaution and keep these foods away from your pets. Them getting into even a little bit of something and cause a lot of pain and harm to their bodies.
Summer time can be hard on many breeds of dogs. Truth is some dogs are double coated which is great in the winter time but hard on them in the summer. There are dogs who are brachycephalic (boxers, shih tzu’s, pugs). Most importantly dogs do not sweat! Did you ever realize that your dog has never sweat, they pant instead. So how can we keep them cool in the summer time? Here are 3 ways you can help your pet this summer!
1. Add ice cubes to their water.
Ice Cubes can make your pet’s water cooler which will help them to bring down their temperatures a bit. If it is hot and the water is room temperature or hot even, that won’t be of any relief to them. Be sure to check on your pet’s water bowls twice as much as you normally do. Change it often and add fresh ice cubes each time.
2. Cooling pad or towel for them to lay on if they are hot.
Cooling pads are great for dogs to lay on. It gives them a cool surface which can drastically help because they do not sweat. A cool wet towel is a great alternative as well. This will keep them from overheating on a hot day.
3. Walking them in the morning and evening instead of midday!
Midday can be the hottest part of the day during the summer months. Help your pet to stay cool by limiting walks during that time of day. When the concrete is hot, it is also hard on the dogs’ pads and can cause injury.
** You can also leave a fan on and rotating or the A.C. on so that it will not allow your home to go above a certain temperature without turning on automatically**
Dogs have a hard time keeping themselves cool because they do not sweat. Keep this is mind this Summer and take the extra steps to keep your pet as comfortable as possible during this time.

Learning is better when it’s fun!
Here are 5 commands you can practice while on a walk. They are easy to follow through and gives you a reason to reward your dog. Routine & Consistency makes learning fun and easier for you and your dog.
Before you begin your walk, you need to put on your dog’s leash. That is a perfect time to practice “COME”. Want to teach your dog to “COME”, here is a quick tutorial “COME Command” to do so.
This is great to practice at stop lights and street corners. As you approach every light and street corner have your dog “SIT”, then you can reward them and continue the walk. “SIT Command” is easy to teach, here’s how!
Teaching your dog to “STAY” is an important command to learn. Sometimes dogs are not aware of all the danger around, from cars & trains to bikes & scooters. Just having them learn “STAY” can be beneficial if there’s ever an emergency. Learn how to teach your dog the “STAY Command” here.
This is usually one of the first commands a dog learns. It is a great idea to practice commands that your dog may already know. This helps to build their -confidence. Learn how to teach your dog the “LAY DOWN Command” here.
This command is great for greeting! Dogs sometimes jump on people to greet them or if they are excited. This is a great alternative. You can teach your dog the “PAW” Command and take care of this problem once and for all.
Now that you know what to do... Let's make the next walk more fun than ever before! Take treats along with you (or you can praise your dog for a job well done)! Pay attention to your energy and how you are feeling. A calm and relaxed feeling is the best way to pursue this! Be aware and enjoy the time you have together!
Hey Everyone! My name is Hendrix and I am a handsome 3-year-old Shih-Tzu pup! I have a great life I must admit. I have an awesome dad who I take great care of! We hang out at parks all the time and he loves to go hiking with me. I try to do as much as I can with him because he seems to enjoy our time together, which I must say I love as well. We watch TV together, go on walks together, play fetch and chase (those are my favorites), even eat together in the kitchen. It’s all great over here! So then, why would I want a sibling right?
Well, here’s the thing. When dad goes to “work” I’m all alone. Sometimes he hangs out with his friends which is cool! I love that I’m not his only friend. I just want someone to hang out with too, someone other than dad. When he’s off doing humans things then I will have another dog around. I understand that he needs friends and to have a life, but how do I convince him to get me a sibling? I have a life too you know! Or at least, that’s what I’m trying to work on now. Maybe I can ask my best friend Walter when I pick him up later. I see Walter everyday when our human friend Stacy comes to get us. She picks me up after dad leaves and then we pick up Walter. We have lots of fun on our walks! I love hanging out with Happy Panters and the Panter pets, but it always ends after a while. So again, ahem…… I think I want a sibling!
What would be some good points to tell dad? He’s a tough negotiator! Let me practice now. “Dad! I think I want a sibling. Before you say no, here’s why. I want a sibling because sometimes I get lonely when you’re away. I play with Walter and Stacy but what I really want is someone here with me all the time. I know I’ve been a great dog and I don’t get in too much trouble, so I will take full responsibility of my new sibling and teach them everything I know. I think I did a great job with you! (if I must say so myself, ha-ha) so it can’t be too hard. I even did some research! There are many shelters here in New York that we can visit so I can find the perfect match. They have a variety of dogs with great temperaments who just need a good home and a family to love them. We can do that dad, I know we can! Let’s help a dog in a bad situation and at the same time GET ME A SSSSIBLING! WOOHOOO!” The End!
Dad has to say yes to that! I mean how can he say no to that? We’re doing something great here right? Killing two birds with one stone? (As the humans would say!) Taking a rescue out of the shelter and (sings) GETTING ME A SIBLING YEAH! So, I have the list of shelters here in New York for us to visit! I also have a list of what we would need to do to be ready to adopt. Aaahhh I said it, ADOPT. ADOPT, ADOPT, ADOPT! I want to ADOPT a new sibling. When dad comes home, I will ask him. No! I will convince him that this is the best thing to do for both of us! Stay Tuned to see how it goes!
ADOPT A RESCUE DOG!
Do you have any suggestions or tips for me? The more info I have the better!
“What do you want for Christmas?” Not that I can answer, but that’s the question that I’ve been asked for a few weeks now. My humans are trying to figure out what I would want. They took me to the pet store and I saw Toys… lots of toys! Toys that I could chew on, toys that made noise, toys that I could chase, even toys that were bigger than me. We walked around a bit more and I saw lots of clothes! If you know me, you know I LOVE clothes! Dad normally buys me cool jerseys and shirts, while mom usually buys me cute stuff like pea coats and sweaters. I love the attention I receive as we take our walks. Other humans want to say “hi” and to pet me, while dogs like to sniff me. I love my wardrobe! Then we went to the treats section! Oh I almost lost my mind, I started pulling dad towards my favorite treat and sat right in front of it. He knows what that means! Of course, we got treats, wooohooo! There was one more section that mom wanted to look at… the kittens, oh boy here we go.
Needless to say, “I was not a fan”. I stood off to the side as mom doted over them, secretly hoping she would not bring one home. I enjoyed being an only child but that was about to change. As the animal god would have it …we got a kitten that day. I’m still wondering what I did to deserve this, you can probably tell “I was not happy about this.” We ended up buying a lot more stuff that day. None of it was for me though. We all went home as a new family and they set up her stuff right next to mine. Her bed was next to mine, her food was next to mine, she even had a basket with her name on it for her toys and stuff. She didn’t use her stuff though, she used mine. She used my bed, my food bowl, my water bowl, even my toys. Her favorite toy of all was “ME”. I hated it, she would swat at my face and try to bite my tail. She would curl up in my bed with me or on me preferably. She would eat my kibble with me and would even wait around so she could follow me. Everywhere I went she was there!
I can’t believe I’m saying this, but…. I LOVE HER!! She has become my best friend. We play fight all day long. She jumps all over me and does these sneak attacks as I walk by, which the humans find hilarious. There was that one time she climbed up dad’s leg with her claws. He screamed so loud as he jumped up out the couch, now that was hilarious! She sleeps under my paw and close to my heart, just the way I like it. I eat a little of her kibble and then she follows suite. As her big brother it’s my job to make sure that she’s eating all her meals and growing healthy. I think mom made a great choice with bringing her home. I wasn’t too happy at first but now I can’t imagine it being any different.
I know what I want for Christmas! My sister came from a group called “Little Wanderers”. I found out that my sister and her kitten siblings were rescued off New York City streets. She’s so strong, I wouldn’t know what to do. They were taken to the vet and put in foster homes. Mom says “Little Wanderers goal is to find them permanent homes”. Before that happens, they need trap and rescue the felines (heard mom say that word) and get them to a vet to make sure everything is okay. Many times they need to be spayed/neutered, de wormed, or even have surgeries to fix any problems before you adopt them. I know it costs a lot of money because my mom says “girls are expensive” and my sister has a ton of stuff. I can’t even imagine if she needed more stuff what we would do. Little Wanderers cover these expenses through donations and sometimes even foster parents try to help as much as they can. This is an all volunteer based network of people, so I DECIDED I WANT TO HELP BUT I NEED YOUR HELP! My sister and I have a great home with amazing humans but many pets out there don’t even have a home. Let’s do our part in making the world a better place! Here is there info below! Every bit helps!
Did you Know: On Average it takes $250.00 to help one feline! This is if they DON’T need major surgery!
Our Goal: Raise $1,000 (help 4 felines)
Here’s how we can help them:
